Day 16, Monday Aug 15, basecamp Santa Paula, visit Santa Barbara

From Sea to Shining Sea!!!

We spent the day in Santa Barbara today.  The town suffered a sizable earthquake in 1929 and lost many of its buildings.  The town fathers decided to re-build the town in the then popular, Spanish revival style.  Due to the cohesive character of its architecture, Santa Barbara has a charming, almost European feel to it.

We walked on the beautiful beach, ate ice cream on the wharf and had lunch at an outdoor cafe amidst many high end shops.  It was a wonderful day!

Tomorrow Dave joins us!  Yeah!!!!

Not sure what this is, but it sure looks like a sea carrot!
