Day 8, Sunday Aug 7, Tucumcari, NM to Flagstaff, AZ

We had a great night at the Tucumcari KOA campground.  When we stepped out of the car, we were pleasantly surprised that the temperature was only in the mid 70's with an expected drop into the 60's at night.  This was very welcome after our 110 degree night in OK.  We got there in time to use the pool and hot tub.  Maybe we should call this blog - Swimming Pools Across America.  I really like the KOA's.  We joined for $25 and get 10% off of any KOA campground.  They are clean and friendly and usually have a wonderful (and cheap) breakfast.

After we filled up our bellies and the car, we left for Flagstaff, AZ.  On the way, we decided to make another couple of stops on Route 66.  There is a nice auto museum in Santa Rosa, NM.  It is a mom and pop operation and they were very friendly.  I'm on the lookout for a tow vehicle for the Pearl.

Smithsonian calls this hotel "the last, bes,t and friendliest of the old-time hotels

A view down Route 66

Bella has found her car!

This one is the same model as the owner's first car (think it was a Gremlin).  He said he had it in high school it really repelled the girls :)

The landscape is looking like an episode of road runner and Wile E. Coyote

One more stop before we reached Flagstaff....

Thought our buddies Chris and Diane would like to know that we were standing on the corner of Winslow Arizona....such a fine sight to see
