Day 6, Aug 5, Memphis TN to Checotah, OK

We had a nice day today.  We toured Graceland in the morning.  That was a trip.  I recognized some of his design choices from our house in the 70's.  Anyplace that is flat is a good place for shag carpet!

The topography is changing from rolling hills to flatter land with dry grasses and shorter trees.  Its starting to look like the west.  We got into Checotah too late to check into the state park, but we got a spot at a KOA rv site.  Of course the first thing we did in this 110 degree heat was jump in the pool.  We had fun splashing around and then we got to work, leveling the Shasta and starting dinner.

It has cooled down a lot this evening.  The boys set up the tent to sleep outside.  Bella and I have the fans blowing on us in the Shasta and it is comfortable enough.

Tomorrow we'll get up and eat breakfast here (this campground has a restaurant), take a quick swim and head west.  Once we are past Oklahoma city, we will get off interstate 40 and wind around on Route 66.  Or as Joshua says, we'll get our kicks on 66.
