Today was awesome! It is so nice to have Dave with us. We got on the road about 10 AM and stopped for breakfast and to re-stock our produce at a farmer's market. Then, on to Carmel. This is my Disneyland. Carmel, home to artists and poets (and Clint Eastwood), has an interesting blend of romantic architecture, and modern beach houses. Hugh Comstock came to live here in the early 1920's and built a little storybook English cottage for his wife's doll collection. The style was so admired, that he went on to build many more. There are 20 of his cottages still standing. Other builders and architects took their cue from these cottages and added more romantic style cottages inspired by English, French and Spanish small country homes. Set along the magnificent California coastline, this is a bewitching place.
Christian who was prepared for a boring walk looking at boring houses, was pleasantly surprised. There was a car event going on and there were more Porsches and Farraris than you could shake a stick at. Much competition for the camera :)

I managed to wrestle the camera out of his grip to take some photos..

We spent some quality time at the Collage of Sweets! A sign inside cautioned that the air inside was 5 calories per whiff. Bella and I tried some Rose Turkish Delight (Turkish Delight is what the White Witch gave Edmund in the chronicles of Narnia - I can see why he went over to the dark side!) |

A store with Bella written all over it - literally! |
Big Sur
After filling ourselves with chocolates and visions of cars and cottages, we took a ride over to Pfeiffer National Forest in Big Sur. WOW!!!! The Pacific Coast highway 1 is amazing!

Elaine, this looked just like the movie we watched with Elizabeth Taylor |

Dave set the camera on a timer - but didn't quite make it back |

Ahhh, there he is! |
